Q. Are these contacts the actual investors in Start-ups and Business Ventures?

A. Yes and No – These are Private Equity & Venture Capital Senior Contacts who represent hundreds of High Net Worth Investors each . The investors in this database control Billions of US$ in investment power on an annual basis ,however, many contacts are direct investors in start-ups themselves.

Q. How many contacts are in the list?

A. In total I have over 25,000 Private Equity and Venture Capital contacts including their emails and telephone numbers plus website addresses to their firms. For example – the USA Version has 10,000 contacts, the UK Version has 4,000.

Q. If I buy this database will I get funding for my Start-up or Business Venture?

A. No one can guarantee success – however there is a 95% chance you will not raise funds without it. Fund raising is hard at any stage of the Business cycle and by utilizing this database can help you save time in the process.

Q. Can I just search the internet to find the same contacts that are in your database?

A. Partially yes. But you will not get their business emails – usually only “info@” domains. You will also not get their positions which makes it hard to connect with the right level of person. And to replicate this database it would take you approximately 1,000 hours of full-time research.

Q. How often do the contacts get updated?

A. I personally update the email addresses every 18 months for the entire database of 25,000+ contacts. The last update was Spring 2021. However, there is no guarantee of 100% delivery in any database. 

Q. Have you used the same Database for fund raising?

A. Yes. I recently was retained to assist with the Angel Investor sourcing for a company in California that required US$ 1,000,000 in funds to assist production and roll-out of their initial products to the USA market. With just 2,000 very targeted emails – using the USA Venture Capital & Private Equity Database –  we had 15 investor companies looking for further information about the product to evaluate it further. The client is still in communication with 3 of these investment companies to evaluate their next stage of progress. This took 4 months of  detailed communication to get to this stage. 

Q. How should I approach these contacts?

A. You should have a Business Plan , Pitch Deck, and Cover Letter – similar to what you would use in a Press Release. These are Corporate and Institutional Grade contacts and companies. You should approach them with a initial email making a specific request. These contacts are not suitable for spam messages. Open the door slowly and then you will get the best results.

Q. Can you assist clients with Fund Raising?

A. My main way to assist is to provide you with the Investor Lists and general tips to commence contact with the investors. I also can assist with creation of Pitch Decks and Business Plans for some clients. In very specific cases I am retained on a contract basis to assist – in house – with Fund Raising for the right clients if I feel the product or Business case is exceptional.

Q. What Geographic Territory Investor list should I target?

A. Focus on the area you live in initially. If from the USA use the USA list. If from UK or Europe use the UK/Europe List. Smaller markets such as Canada, Middle East and South America can be used as well. China and Hong Kong can be used together in most cases.

Q. Should I approach every contact in the Database?

A. Definitely not. The Database gives you the starting point to initiate a targeted strategy and act as the base for your Fund Raising efforts. This allows you to focus on what you are best suited to in your particular Business. Without it you are going to have to devote hundreds or thousands of hours in Business development as opposed to running your business and perfecting your Pitch .

Q. Can I just get someone to scrape LinkedIn to find similar investors?

A. You can but it will not be very accurate and as comprehensive of a list. I have used  web scraped Investor lists – typically marketed as “Angel Investors” –  and they tend to be just names of people who may have added “Investor” to their LinkedIn Profiles. The majority of contacts on a web scraped list are not in the business of Fund Raising on a full time basis. Therefore it is not advisable to use web-scraped databases to source Institutional grade investors. It is important to note that 100% of the contacts in our Venture Capital & Private Equity Database are involved in the  buying and funding of businesses!
